ETHYL CHLORIDE SPRAY  Please read this leaflet carefully, because it contains important instructions for the use of this Product. Please consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions. Composition: Active ingredient: 100 ml of solution contain: ETHYL CHLORIDE 100 % V/V   Dosage form and contents: Aerosol cans containing 100 ml of solution available as a Fine Spray (General usage) or Direct Stream (Targeted application) Local anesthetics: Indications: For local refrigeration anesthesia (freezing). Sports injuries (strains, contusions), sprains, minor surgery (e.g. wart removal), pulp vitality test, piercing, tick removal, chiropody (foot care, pedicure), muscle cramps, cryotherapy in case of swelling, muscle pain, tenosynovitis (tennis elbow), and articular ligament pain. Contraindications: Who should not use ETHYL CHLORIDE SPRAY? Persons who are allergic to ETHYL CHLORIDE. Do not spray ETHYL CHLORIDE on open wounds and mucous membranes.  Precautions to be taken and warnings: What precautions must be taken? Do not use as a general anesthetics. Do not use near an open flame? For topical use only. Take care to avoid breathing in ETHYL CHLORIDE when used in the area of the head and neck. What precautions should be taken in traffic and when operating machinery or working in a precarious position? When used as directed no effects on drivers or persons operating machinery are to be expected? If ETHYL CHLORIDE is inhaled, the ability to react may be altered to such an extent that the patient’s ability to participate actively in traffic or to operate machinery may be impaired. You will then be unable to react sufficiently rapidly and purposefully to sudden unexpected events. Do not drive a car or any other vehicle. Do not operate electrical tools or machinery. Do not work in a precarious position. Bear especially in mind that alcohol impairs your ability to operate a vehicle even more. Please consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions. Dosage instructions, mode and duration of application: The following instructions apply for the use of ETHYL CHLORIDE SPRAY unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor. Please observe the instructions for use, as otherwise ETHYL CHLORIDE SPRAY cannot be properly effective. How and when should you use ETHYL CHLORIDE SPRAY? Spray briefly on the parts of the body requiring treatment from a distance of approx. 30 cm. How long should you use ETHYL CHLORIDE SPRAY? The ice spray should only be used until a thin snowy film forms and no longer. Faulty application and over dosage: What is to be done when ETHYL CHLORIDE SPRAY has been used in excessive quantities (intentional or unintentional over dosage)? In case of over dosage with ETHYL CHLORIDE frostbite may occur. Symptoms of intoxication due to inspiration of ETHYL CHLORIDE are the preanaesthesia hangover syndrome, intoxication, unconsciousness, and central respiratory and circulatory paralysis. Antidotes in addition to the standard measures for intoxication are to assist pulmonary excretion of the toxin by forcing expiration and giving Xylocaine as a prophylactic measure (ventricular fibrillation). On no account should sympathomimetic agents be given, due to the danger of ventricular fibrillation. No alcohol, milk or castor oil.  Side effects: What side effects can occur when using ETHYL CHLORIDE SPRAY? Allergic skin changes. No other side effects are known as yet when ETHYL CHLORIDE is used as directed. If ETHYL CHLORIDE is sprayed on for too long, frostbite of the skin may occur. Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you experience side effects which are not listed in this leaflet. Instructions and information on storage and stability: The expiry date of this pack is printed on the outer packaging and on the container. Do not use this pack after the expiry date.
