ANAESTHETIC SURFACE SPRAY (Lidocaine Topical Aerosol 10 % w/w Spray)  Please read this leaflet carefully, because it contains important instructions for the use of this Product. Please consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions.   Composition: Active ingredient: 80 ml of solution contain: LIDOCAINE BP (10 % W/W)                                         PROPELLENT & SOLVENT (Q.S)   Dosage form and contents: Aerosol cans containing 80 ml of solution. The active ingredient is lidocaine. Each spray contains 10 % w/w of lidocaine.   Read all of this leaflet carefully before this medicine is given to you because it contains important information for you.  •Keep this leaflet. You may need to read it again.  •If you have any further questions, ask your doctor, nurse, dentist or pharmacist.  •This medicine has been prescribed for you only. Do not pass it on to others. It may harm them, even if their signs of illness are the same as yours.  •If you get any side effects, talk your doctor, nurse, dentist or pharmacist. This includes any possible  Side effects not listed in this leaflet. See section 4.   1.  What Lidocaine Spray is and what it is used for   The name of your medicine is ‘Lidocaine Topical Aerosol 10 % w/w Spray’. It is referred to as ‘Lidocaine Spray’ in the rest of this leaflet. Lidocaine Spray contains a medicine called lidocaine. This belongs to a group of medicines called local anaesthetics. Lidocaine Spray is a non-sterile solution used to numb (anaesthetise) parts of the body to reduce pain and reflex gagging:  •During medical examination of the nose, throat, stomach or lungs requiring the insertion of viewing instruments  •Minor procedures involving the nose and throat  •After childbirth.  •During treatment at the dentist.   2.   What you need to know before you use Lidocaine Spray   Do not use Lidocaine Spray:  •If you are allergic to lidocaine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine. •If you are allergic to any other local anaesthetics of the same class (such as prilocaine or bupivacaine).  You must not be given Lidocaine Spray if any of the above apply to you. If you are not sure, talk to your doctor, nurse, dentist or pharmacist before you are given Lidocaine Spray.   Warnings and precautions  Talk to your doctor, nurse, dentist or pharmacist before having Lidocaine Spray:  •If you have any cuts, sores or ulcers in your throat, mouth or nose.  •If you have a chest infection.  •If you have epilepsy.  •If you have heart problems such as a slow heart beat.  •If you have very low blood pressure. •If you have liver or kidney problems.  •If you have ever been told that you have a rare disease of the blood pigment called ‘porphyria’ or anyone in your family has it.  If you are not sure if any of the above apply to you, talk to your doctor, nurse, dentist or pharmacist before having Lidocaine Spray.   Other medicines and Lidocaine Spray  Tell your doctor or dentist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines. This includes medicines that you buy without a prescription and herbal medicines. This is because Lidocaine Spray can affect the way some medicines work and some medicines can have an effect on Lidocaine Spray.    In particular, tell your doctor or dentist if you are taking any of the following medicines:  •Medicines used to treat an uneven heart beat (arrhythmia) such as mexiletine.   Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility  If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or dentist for advice before you are given this medicine.       Driving and using machines  •Lidocaine Spray may affect you being able to drive or use tools or machines. This depends on where in the body Lidocaine Spray is used and how much is used.  •Your doctor or dentist will tell you when it is safe for you to do these activities.    3.
